Richard W. Eichler

The last years saw the space that was left to a truly artistic human representation through portrait painting more and more diminished. Dominant was on one hand a deforming affectation that used the human form merely as a pretense and on the other hand there was that form of dexterity painting that has less value than a good photograph.
Hannes Rosenow belongs to the painters that have found a form of portrait suitable to our times. He admits himself: The human face has always been the most fascinating landscape for me." But it has to be said that the young artist works also successfully in other areas, most notably with still life.
